The impact factor (IF) or journal impact factor (JIF) of a scientific journal is a scientometric factor based on the average annual number of citations of articles published by a particular journal over the past two years. In other words, the 2020 impact factor is the average number of cited publications divided by the citable publications of a journal. A review impact factor is often used as an indicator of the relative importance of a journal in its field. Usually, it is often assumed that journals with higher impact factors have a greater influence than those with lower impact factors. However, the scientific community has also found that review articles tend to be more citable than research articles. Special Issue: International Regimes and Environmental Policy Integration/ Guest edited by Måns Nilsson and Marc Pallemaerts Special Issue: Managing Fragmentation and Complexity in the Emerging System of International Climate Finance International Environmental Agreements: Policy, Law and Economics is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal that focuses on theoretical dimensions, methodological and practical solutions to concentrated international environmental problems. The journal examines both formal legal agreements such as multilateral treaties and less formal cooperation mechanisms such as ministerial declarations and producer-consumer agreements. The scope of the review covers a wide range of environmental and resource topics, including biosecurity, biodiversity loss, climate change, desertification, forest protection, ozone depletion, transboundary pollutant flows, and the management of marine and freshwater resources. The journal provides a forum on the role of political, economic and legal considerations in negotiating and implementing effective governance strategies. SCImago Journal Rank (SJR indicator) is a measure of the scientific influence of scientific journals that takes into account both the number of citations received from a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals from which these citations originate. Each journal impact factor or scientometric indicator alone does not give you the complete picture of a scientific journal. That`s why scientists review current measures every year to improve them, and sometimes develop new ones.

There are also other factors that need to be taken into account, e.B. H-Index, Self-Citation Ratio, SJR (SCImago Journal Rank Indicator) and SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper). Researchers can also consider the practicality of a journal, such as publication fees, acceptance rate, review speed. Read more: What is a good impact factor?
