Below are some common agreements on university programs. However, this list is not exhaustive, as any agreement establishing an essential academic relationship between the university and another institution is considered a program of study agreement. If you are not sure if a specific agreement is eligible, please contact this office or the provost marshal`s office. Colleges – Dunglison, Hunter, Pinn and Reed – are not real places. Instead, they are closely related learning communities in which each student member feels a sense of belonging throughout student life. Each group named after a prominent figure in the history of the School of Medicine is led by a dean who supports and guides his students. From the first time students put on their white coats to their hoods upon graduation, deans are their advocates in all situations – academic progress, health issues, career guidance, etc. Any person or department who has an interest in developing a general agreement with another institution or who is approached by another institution to express such an interest must immediately notify the Dean`s office. After contacting the Dean`s office, a request must be made to Bill Define and Matt Banfield. Typically, two or more institution agreements on course sharing typically determine the procedures for managing student enrollment at one institution participating in online courses offered by one or more other participating institutions. University program agreements are contracts between the university and another institution or organization to establish a joint educational program, a collaborative academic relationship such as a student exchange, or a research activity that has nothing to do with the sponsored research.

These agreements are processed and signed by the Office of the Dean in coordination with Financial Operations or, in the case of research-related agreements, with the Office of Sponsored Programs. For more information on academic program agreements, see Policy FIN-035: Academic Approval and Signing Authority for Academic Program Agreements. The UVA School of Medicine is a friendly and welcoming learning community where students not only learn the art and science of practicing medicine, but also develop personally. Students can find a wide range of activities that match their interests, including research opportunities, hands-on clinical experience, and student organizations. Agreements on research activities are processed by the Dean`s Office in coordination with the Office of Sponsored Programs. These agreements are signed by the Vice-President, Research and the Assistant Vice-President, Research Administration. Research activity agreements provide for the possibility of research collaborations between the university and one or more other institutions or organizations. If such research collaborations are approved as part of the normal activities of the sponsored programs (under the supervision of the Sponsored Programs Office), they do not require an additional agreement on research activities. The Executive Vice-President and Provost Marshal. In addition, in cases where an agreement is specific to the school, the deans of the school or schools concerned also sign. To begin the process of creating and approving a curriculum agreement, whether it is a new agreement or an extension, please first contact your Dean`s office. After contacting your dean`s office, a request must be made to Bill Define, Director of Financial Operations, and Matt Banfield, Assistant Vice-President, Academic Affairs.

Please anticipate that the types of program of study agreements described below may last up to approximately six weeks from the time they are proposed until they come into effect. Double degree agreements set out the conditions for the management of a particular programme carried out in coordination with two or more educational institutions. These agreements allow students to obtain two or more degrees for the completion of a single concurrent program of study, partially taught by each participating institution. General academic cooperation and exchange agreements (“General Agreements”) are generally initial declarations of willingness to cooperate in one or more academic activities, but without binding obligations on either institution other than an obligation to cooperate collegially to promote the stated objectives of the Agreement. General agreements generally provide that certain cooperation activities require subsequent agreements, all of which must follow the appropriate procedures described below. These guidelines complement the university`s policy on the execution of university contracts and its policy of academic approval and signatory authority for academic program agreements. Any academic program agreement, including those not discussed in detail below, is a contract and is therefore subject to both guidelines. Readers should consult these guidelines and also rely on the guidelines listed below. Questions about whether a particular activity or type of agreement falls within the scope of these procedures should be directed to the Office of Financial Information and Operations.

Visiting researcher agreements are appropriate if a student attends AVC for a period of several months (i.e.B. longer than a temporary visit) to conduct research or participate in scientific activities, but is not enrolled in courses and is therefore technically not a UVA student. Study abroad agreements include all agreements relating to university programs taught in a foreign country or to university students participating in a program in a foreign country administered by a third party. Examples include any agreement where the university enters into a contract with a third party to provide overseas program services to university students, and any agreement that allows students from other U.S. schools to participate in an UVA study program abroad. Student exchange agreements allow AVC students to study at another college, while students from that institution can also study at UVA. .
